The 2018 edition of the popular ‘Red car/ Yellow car’ calendars have arrived from the Orange Empire Railway Museum.  The Electric Railways of Los Angeles publication depicts historic photographs (in color) from the era when street cars and trolleys were the way to get around.  Many of the cars depicted can be seen at the Orange Empire Museum in Perris, CA.Price – $12.95

In stock…from ScaleTrains…Thrall 5750cf Carbon Black Covered Hoppers…

 

 
During the 1970s, Thrall Manufacturing Co. introduced a new railcar designed for handling carbon black.  These 3-bay, 70-ton capacity covered hopper cars boasted a volume of 5750 cubic feet, and measured 51’ over their ends.  Unlike traditional covered hopper designs, where the end slope sheets are plainly visible, these cars featured an enclosed, boxy design, which was a necessity due to a special design feature to aid in the unloading of carbon black.

These HO scale models in the Rivet Counter series are the first to be offered in HO scale. This version of these cars represents the fleet from the 1980’s with a revised roofline and 22 hatches.

Available to order…Santa Fe Welded Tank Cars (classes TK-N and TK-O) from American Limited…

 

 
In the spring of 1949, Santa Fe took delivery of 250 welded tank cars, TK-N.  The cars had AB airbrakes and Ajax handbrakes.  Trucks were 70 ton ASF A3 ‘Ride Control’.  These cars from General American remained in service until the 1980’s.

There will be several different types of lettering schemes for these HO scale models (6 in all) which will retail for $48.95 , with availablity in late 2018.  Come by ‘the Stop for more information.
